Gift Area

Due to the height of the converted barn there was room for another floor above the Farm shop and Café. This area is given over to local businesses to sell their wares. At the top of the attractive wooden staircase you will find an Aladdin’s Cave of gift ideas including cards, candles, cushions, jewellery, funky coloured wellies and wooden ducks. Local joiner Jon Donaldson offers beautiful hand crafted furniture and accessories and we now have a selection of organic children's clothes for sale from Damsels & Dragonflies. We also have Ally Robinson's handmade silk bags, blankets and greetings cards, Quite Contrary handmade jewellery and Firby Designs Beads and Bags. Plus larger shops such as Eastern Origins with stores in Northallerton and Darlington, Montana Country Collection ( www.montanacountrycollection.co.uk) and Southolme Adventure Toys also there to tempt you. Our latest addition to the Gift area is the return of a Cookshop at the Lakeside. This is crammed full of everday essentials as well as must have gifts and gadgets.

Quite Contrary
'Quite Contrary ' is a small jewellery business run by designer Pam Bradby, from her home in Brompton-on- Swale.
'I specialise in producing sterling silver pieces of jewellery incorporating semi-precious gemstones, freshwater pearls, Murano style glass beads and Swarovski crystals. A range of collections comprising a limited number of items on a particular theme is produced each season. November sees the launch of 'Black Ice' - a collection inspired by Snowflake Obsidian, a form of volcanic glass and picking up on the strong monochrome trend on the Catwalks for Autumn/Winter 2007. Also available is a collection inspired by 'Autumn Leaves' and a number of necklaces reflecting my ongoing obsession with all things heart shaped.'
As well as the seasonal collections, I love designing individual pieces. So if you need a piece of jewellery for a special occasion or gift, or in a particular colour please do get in touch. Special order cards are available at the Lakeside for this purpose.
