About The Lakeside Farm Shop & Country Café

Set in a converted grain store at North Farm, Ellerton between Scorton and Kiplin. Owners Graeme and Sarah Thompson took over the pig farm from Graeme's parents in 1998. As a result of a change in the Pig farming industry at this time Graeme used his initiative and started up a butchery delivery round selling his own pork and soon developed a loyal following of local customers looking for values they couldn't find in their local supermarket.



"What my butchery round showed me", says Graeme, "was that there was a real demand for local produce. People want to know where their meat has come from, and they want to be able to identify with the farm and the farmer."


It was during this time that the seed of the project that was to become the Lakeside Farm Shop and Country Café started to grow.
